ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a printmaker, following the rich history of printmaking’s core purpose, to disseminate ideas to a broad audience. My work focuses on the strong partisanship that exists within our country, the role we play as individuals in contemporary politics, and problem-solving within a capitalist structure. The work ranges from serious to satiric, highlighting the absurdity of contemporary socio-political discourse.

I use traditional printmaking techniques in non-traditional methods to create sculptural work or installation. I experiment with what forms and images can be used to translate facts and stories in a manner that is accessible while remaining visually poetic. All of my work is completely handmade (with very few exceptions), and most pieces have the potential to be scaled up in order to engage a larger audience beyond traditional art spaces; similar to the original intention of prints.
I rely on recognizable forms and imagery to make the work approachable, and tweak it slightly to create new meanings or an opportunity to reflect. This work is not an answer, but a question.
